Spiral column charts are another chart type for representing cyclical time patterns (e.g., hourly trends within a day, daily trends within a week, or monthly trends within a year). This chart type is sometimes referred to as “snail column chart” because its shape resembles a snail shell. Unlike other spiral charts, spiral column charts do not arrange cycles in full circles but rather expand outward in spirals, allowing readers to better distinguish individual values. However, they are mainly suitable for general comparison of side-by-side data.
