Ribbon charts can be defined as a combination of a stacked column chart and a bump chart. In this chart, values at each time interval are displayed as stacked columns arranged from largest to smallest. The columns are connected with ribbons that represent ranking changes. This allows us to visualize both the overall change over time and the ranking shifts within subcategories.
