Bubble charts are used when we want to explore the relationships among three parameters. They are essentially scatter plots with sized points. A legend indicating what the area size represents must be included, as users with lower data literacy may not know whether the area or the diameter of the circles conveys the value. This visualization approach can also be used in dot plots, jitter plots, or bee swarm plots to represent an additional parameter.
