A cartogram is a map-based type of chart that visualizes data by modifying the size or shape of geographic regions based on quantitative values. It is often used to more effectively convey statistics such as population, economic indicators, or environmental data. In a cartogram, the area of each region is scaled proportionally to the data it represents. For example, in a population cartogram, more densely populated regions appear larger, while less populated ones appear smaller.
